Logistics & Import Officer
Reports To: Import/Logistics Manager
Location: Faisal Town Lahore
Working Hours: 9am to 5:30 pm
Key Responsibilities:
Documentation Preparation:
- Prepare and process essential import documents, including purchase orders, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs clearance forms.
- Ensure all documents are accurate and comply with import regulations to minimize delays.
Supplier Coordination:
- Communicate with international suppliers to obtain necessary documentation like certificates of origin and shipping instructions.
- Monitor shipment schedules to ensure timely dispatch.
Customs Clearance:
- Collaborate with customs brokers or agents to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
- Provide required documentation, resolve discrepancies, and manage inspections when necessary.
Shipping & Transportation Coordination:
- Arrange transportation of goods from ports to designated locations in collaboration with freight forwarders.
- Track shipments and address any shipping-related issues, such as delays or miscommunications.
Inventory Management:
- Update inventory records upon shipment arrivals.
- Ensure stock levels are accurate and products are available for production or distribution.
Compliance Management:
- Stay updated on import regulations, tariffs, and trade agreements.
- Ensure shipments meet legal and regulatory requirements, reducing risks of fines or delays.
Problem Solving:
- Address issues like customs delays, damaged goods, or documentation discrepancies.
- Work efficiently to find solutions and communicate with relevant stakeholders.
Cross-Department Communication:
- Collaborate with procurement, logistics, finance, and supply chain teams to provide updates on shipment status.
- Share delivery schedules and anticipated arrival times to ensure seamless operations.
Data Entry & Reporting:
- Enter import-related data accurately into company systems.
- Generate reports on import volumes, costs, and compliance metrics for management review.
Key Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field (preferred).
- 2-3 years in import/export, logistics, or supply chain management.
- Familiarity with import/export documentation, customs regulations, tariffs, and international shipping procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with logistics software or ERP systems (preferred).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for liaising with international suppliers and internal teams.
