About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Deputy Manager to support the leadership of a well-established care home specialising in dementia care. This is a key leadership role requiring strong operational, clinical, and people management skills to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and person-centred care in line with regulatory standards.
You will work closely with the Registered Manager to drive service quality, maintain compliance, and lead a high-performing care team within a compassionate and professional environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the day-to-day operational management of the home, ensuring full compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding frameworks, and health & safety standards.
- Lead and manage care teams to consistently deliver high-quality, person-centred care tailored to individuals living with dementia.
- Oversee rota management and workforce planning, ensuring appropriate staffing levels, skill mix, and cost-effective deployment of resources.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop staff through structured supervisions, appraisals, and performance management processes.
- Ensure the effective development, implementation, and review of care plans, risk assessments, and support plans in line with best practice and individual needs.
- Take a lead role in safeguarding, incident reporting, and investigations, ensuring timely escalation and compliance with policies and regulatory requirements.
- Implement and maintain robust quality assurance and audit systems, driving continuous improvement across the service.
- Work collaboratively with families, local authorities, commissioners, and healthcare professionals to ensure positive outcomes for service users.
- Support financial management, including budgeting, cost control, and contributing to occupancy and service growth.
- Participate in the on-call rota, ensuring leadership support outside of standard working hours and effective management of emergencies, complaints, and feedback.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a Deputy Manager or Senior role within a care home setting, ideally with dementia care experience
- Strong understanding of CQC standards, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance
- Demonstrated experience in rota management and staff leadership
- Excellent knowledge of care planning, risk assessment, and person-centred care delivery
- Strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage complex situations effectively
- Level 3 or above in Health & Social Care (Level 5 desirable or willingness to work towards)
